I’ve spent almost two decades making documentaries for TV stations in Japan, but this genre is becoming less and less attractive for people to watch. The main reason for this is that we, producers in the old-media, failed to keep up with the digitalization and innovation that occurred around us. During my stay, I’ll devote myself to learning and experiencing every technology and way of thinking (e.g. AI, AR/VR, mobile, and data journalism) that can be combined with the traditional documentary production method. The goal is to create a new style or format of storytelling, not only to be distributed on TV but also shown on mobile screens.
