As a cameraman and reporter, I recognize the appeal of video distribution of news. However, in large part due to the proliferation of smartphones, viewing habits have been changing. My aim is to research how, and in what way, video news content should be presented via various platforms and distribution channels, to reach a large audience and increase brand engagement. Given the growth of social media as a source of news, NHK is about to start simultaneous online streaming of its TV programs, and as a result I am particularly interested in creating news video content and programs that can attract a greater audience.
